BRACKENFIELD HUNT.
POINT-TO-POINT RACE HELD AT FERNSIDE
The annual point-to-point steeplechase, held to wind up the Brackenfield Hunt Club’s season, is ever a popular meeting. Followers of the hounds from all parts of North Canterbury where meets have been held gather to spend a pleasant afternoon together. If anything, there was a much larger attendance than usual at this year's meeting, held at Fernside on Saturday. The sun shone brightly, but its warmth was tempered by a chilly breeze from the north-west. An entertaining programme, in which several lady riders were prominent, was provided, and the keenest interest was evinced in the performance of the competitors and their mounts. Afternoon tea, provided by the club, was served, and the presentation of the prizes by Mrs D. Chapman, wife of the Master of the Hounds, brought an enjoyable afternoon to an end.
Among those present were: Mr and Mrs D. Chapman, Mr and Mrs J. B. Starky, Sir Bruce and Lady Stewart, Mr and Mrs G. Gerard, Mr and Mrs R. Turnbull, Mr and Mrs H.
