A case where preference has been given to British products over Continental is reported from Auckland, where the Power Board has accepted a British tender for the installation of a steam generating plant at King’s Wharf during the inactivity of the Arapuni power scheme. Mr A. F. Holdsworth, chairman of the Auckland Power Board, and Mr Bartley, the board's engineer, have been in Wellington during the past few days, where a question as to whether the board should accept a Continental tender or a British one was referred to the Government. On the ground of Imperial preference the British quotation won the day, and now arrangements are being made concerning duty. BE SAFE!
