street collection for CANCER RESEARCH FUND.
A picturesque feature of to-morrow’s street collection for the Cancer Fund will be the presence in Cathedral Square of a little girl collector in a nurse's uniform. The women w’ho have the collection in. hand have not set themselves to raise a given sum, but they hope for a very generous response from the public. A canvass from house to house will be continued until Tuesday next. Yesterday, the collectors went to the Addington workshops and supplemented the funds substantially there. To-morrow, there will be a cake and produce stall in Victoria Street, managed by the doctors’ wives. A* great deal of produce has been sent from all parts of the country, including some very choice cases of apples from Nelson. In connection with the housetohousc canvass, the ladies’ organisation would like it. to be known that, wherever .a contribution is made, coupons for the amount ought to be left by the collector.
