SIX SCHOOLBOYS ARE DROWNED.
BYSTANDERS THOUGHT THEIR DISTRESS A JOKE. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received July 10, 10 a.m.) LONDON, July 9. A bathing tragedy occurred at Black; pool. Ninety-one boys belonging to St Aiden’s School were camping in the neighbourhood when the majority went in to bathe. Several were caught in the receding tide, threw up their arms and shouted for help. Bystanders at first thought it part of the general merriment. When they realised the danger it was too late to rescue the lads, and six were drowned. Two of the boys were gallantly rescued.
