Fire destroyed the wash-house at Llangwarran Farm, near Leeston. yesterday afternoon. The homestead was in danger, but the employees prevented the fire from spreading beyond the small building. The Canterbury Progress League has spent an amount of £277 over an above its income for its year just ended. This iact was remarked by Mr UBufson, jun.. at the meeting ot the executive of the league last mgh.. - Burs on's suggestion that the leagues financial position in reference to the present year be referred to the standing Committee was adopted.
