Mr C. E. Fowke, who for several years prior to 1921 was stationmaster at the Orari railway station, and afterwards officer-in-charge of the Central Booking Office at Christchurch, has retired after a period of forty years’ service with the Railway Department. Prior to being appointed to Orari he had been in charge of the Herbert and Coalgate railway stations.
