AUDITOR WILL BE ASKED TO EXPLAIN.

CERTIFICATES MUST DEAL WITH FACTS ONLY. (Special to the “Star.”) WELLINGTON, July 9. The opinion that an auditor's certificate should deal with facts only was placed on record at a recent meeting of the executive committee of the New Zealand Society of Accountants. The prospectus of a proposed limited liability company embodying a certificate from an auditor regarding the future profits of the company was before the meeting. It was resolved to communicate with the auditor, asking for his explanation and indicating that, in the opinion of the executive committee, the certificate should cover facts, and stating that, as future profits were problematical, the giving of a certificate was considered to be unprofessional.
