BAPTIST CLUB. The Baptist Club held a teams race on Saturday afternoon from the residence of Mr A. Park, Brown’s Road, St Albans, a large field taking part in the event. The trail, laid by C. C. Robson and R. H Scott, led through Marshland and Northcote for a distance of six miles over good country. The teams results are as follow:—A. Park’s team, 43 points, 1; L. C. Fulford’s team, 48 points 2; C. T. Jones’s team, 56 points, 3; R. S. Odell’s team, 63 points, The first, twenty individual runners were as follows:—A. Park 1, L. C. Fulford 2, L. Milner 3, C. Jones 4, J. Walton 5, G. Harrison 6, L. Radcliffe 7, A. Baigent 8, R. S. Odell 9, R. Park 10, E. Simpson 11, M. F. Foate 12, W. Eagle 13, W. Haymes 14, A. Miles 15, G. Harper 16, ,T. Walker 17, S. Reddell 18, H. Buchanan ID, A. Wilson 20. On account of the test match no run will be held next week.
A party of Christchurch bowlers were passengers by Saturday night’s ferry steamer en route to Fiji, where they will take part in the annual bowling tournament, in Suva. The tournament is attended by many bowlers from Australia and New Zealand. The party will return early in August. The party comprised Messrs J. Baxter (United Club), L. Munns and W. Haigh (Opawa), and W. Brown (Christchurch).
