Remarkable Goal-Kicking.

HOW WAIRARAPA BEAT HAWKE’S BAY FIFTEEN.

As a result of remarkable goal-kick-ing by F. Fuller, Wairarapa were able to defeat Hawke's Bay here on Saturday by 30 points to 22. In all, Fuller, who is a wing three-quarter, sent the ball oyer the cross-bar eight times—five penalties and three conversions He scored a try as well.

At half-time Hawke’s Bay led by 14 points to 8. and the second spell was thrilling. Hawke’s Bay'were the first to attack. Wanoa. dashed up and ran over to score. Evans goaled, a beautiful kick.. Hawke’s Bay 19, Wairarapa 8. Wairarapa returned to the attack, and in striking distance a free kick from the sideline gave Fuller a chance, and he goaled. The home team all the backs handling, and Corkill and Stringfellow, handling twice, sent Fuller in unopposed to score under the bar. Fuller goaled.

M’Kay was caught off-side from the scrum outside the twenty-five. Fuller had a successful shot, bringing the score to 19 aIL

Bay chased play into the Wairarapa twenty-five, but fine kicking by Jury relieved. Corkill, by further kicking, carried play well inside Bay’s twentyfive. Good forward play saved. Play settled in midfield, but a hot attack, led by J. Donald, saw the ball over the Bay line, but Grenside made a splendid save. From a scrum inside the twenty-five a Bay forward was penalised for tripping Mill. Fuller goaled. Wairarapa 22, Hawke’s Bay 19. The kick-off carried play to the Wairarapa twenty-five, but stubborn defence kept them out till Jury and Stringfellow relieved brilliantly and Bay forced in the corner. Wairarapa still attacked, and from a scrum Mill passed to. Donald to P. Jury, who scored near the posts Fuller goaled. A minute later Bay infringed near the sideline, and Fuller goaled with a splendid kick. A wonderful attack by Wairarapa saw the ball go right through the line of backs and then reverse all through the forwards till Jury again received it and knocked on, to lose a certain score. Bay promptly carried play to the Wairarapa line, but Mill, playing a fine game, gave relief. A ragged attack by the Bay was instituted by Grenside. and saw Setford pick up and dive across.
