MINIATURE RIFLE MEETING HELD.

CHAMPIONSHIPS WERE FIRED ON SATURDAY.

The eighteenth annual Canterbury miniature rifle championships were tael a on Saturday afternoon and evening, in the range of the Christchurch Miniature Rifle Association. The meeting was one of the most successful yet held, some twenty-nine teams taking part in the champion teams match. Competitors were present from South Canterbury, Ellesmere and North Canterbury. There was some great shooting, C. Thom, of Svdenham, annexing the Wharton Match with the record of twenty-three consecutive bull’s-eyes. In the individual championship match, S. H. Clark (Cashmere) won with twelve consecutive bull's-eyes. The championship was won by J. D. Edmonds, of Sumner, after three shoot-offs with W. Oakley, jun., West Melton. The teams match was won by West Melton for the second vear in succession. The success of the meeting was largely due to the work of the secretary. Mr A. Tongue. Other officials were: Target judges, Messrs R. Neill, F. Lightfoot, S. Stephens; range officers, Messrs W. Crossen, S. Williams and T. Davie; timekeeper, Mr A. J. Beaven.
