The Perfect Shoe.

O p 200 doctors in England who replied I to a questionnaire on the effect of footwear on health, sent out by the Federation of Boot Trade Associations, nearly all agreed that: Ultra-high heels should go. The perfect boot or shoe is one which has a good quality leather sole of fair thickness, and leather uppers, gives proper support to the arch of the foot and permits free movement of the toes. Such a shoe would lessen the ill-effects upon national health of rheumatism, chest troubles, heart disease, colds and foot ailments. Mr John Hoyle, the general secretary, reported the results of the questionnaire to the Federation conference at Hastings recently. Other points that emerged from the replies were that “gym” shoes, Wellingtons and rubber-soled shoes’should not be worn longer than is absolutely necessary, and thin, paper-like shoes should be barred except for fine weather wear. Tight-fitting shoes were blamed, among other complaints, for nervous disorders. Several of the doctors criticised strongly the vanity that makes women wear unsuitable shoes because they are fashionable. tEinn rszn rarsn nzi ran go rsn nszn iszinH on on on nb tsn cxi gzi gei rczi ra
