Racing Clubs And Their Stakes For Season.

INTERESTING RETURN PREPARED FOR THE CONFERENCE DELEGATES.

Among the documents of the Racing, Conference attached to the order paper is the annual return presented by the vice-president, showing the reasons why a number of clubs were granted permission for a less sum to be given in stakes than 90 per cent of the average net amount derived from such clubs from the use of the totalisator j during the previous three years. The Matamata Racing Club was granted permission to give not less then £9OO in stakes, owing to the club desiring to relay its training tracks. The Taranaki Hunt Club was granted permission to give not less than £S3O ! in stakes, owing to the necessity of con- j serving its funds. The Thames Jockey Club was permitted to give not less than £2IOO in ■ stakes, owing to having held a previous meeting at Ellerslie, and the fact that ■ it has spent a large sum in acquiring i additional ground and laying down a new course. The Te Kuiti Racing Club was grant- ; ed permission to give not less than ; £2335 in stakes, owing to a previous meeting being held at Ellerslie. The Dargaville Racing Club was permitted to give not less than £1315 in | stakes owing to its previous meeting j being held at Avondale. The Waipa Racing Club was permitj ted to give not less than £1202 in 1 stakes, being an increase of £B2, owing i to its financial position.
