WEDDINGS.
Johnstone—Yeoman. A wedding took place at St John's Presbyterian Church, Essendon, Melbourne, on June 11, when Hilda Yeoman, of Linwood, was married to Gordon Johnstone, of St Martins. The bride, who was escorted by her uncle, Mr 11. Mitchell, of Melbourne, wore a charming gown of ivory satin beaute, her hand-embroidered veil forming a train, and she carried a shower bouquet. Miss Marjorie Johnstone, sister of the bridegroom, who attended as bridesmaid, wore a flame and silver shot taffeta frock with a felt hat to tone, and she carried an early Victorian posy. The bridegroom was assisted by his cousin, Mr E. M. Johnson. A reception was afterwards held at the residence of the bridegroom’s aunt, Mrs M. P. Johnson, Waitiro, Essendon. The happy couple left later for their home in Griffith, New South Wales.
Lucena—Cook. The marriage of Naomi, eldest daughter of Mrs Cook and the late Mr A. E. Cook, of Loburn, North Canterbury, to Henry Lancaster, elder son of Mr and Mrs John L. Lucena, of Auckland, took place at Holy Trinity Church, Suva, Fiji, on June 9. The Ven Archdeacon Hands officiated. The church was prettily decorated with tropical flowers and foliage by Miss Paddy Hawkins. The bride was charmingly gowned in floral ninon over shell pink, with a picture hat to tone. Mrs Cook, mother of the bride, wore a frock of Wedgwood-blue tucked georgette and a black felt hat with satin trimmings. Mrs Lucena was frocked in floral ninon and black lace, with a georgette fringed coat. Miss Lawson, of Auckland, a friend of the bride’s mother, was attired in a black lace frock over beige with touches of tomato, her hat being a black straw with a coral ornament. Miss Hawkins’s frock of floral silk was matched with a cream hat. Following the wedding, a reception was held in the lounge of the Grand Pacific Hotel. The future residence of Mr and Mrs Lucena will be at Bau Street, Suva.
