VICE-REGAL. Lord and Lady Bledisloe made their first official visit to Palmerston North yesterday. They were accorded a civic welcome. They have a big programme ahead of them during the next few days, visiting the hospital, schools, Massey College, the winter show and Flock House. Mr E. E. Luttreil and Mr E. S. Luttrell arrived from the north this morning. Mr G. A. Lee, of Auckland, who is to prepare a scheme of harbour development for a Queensland port authority, left by the Ulimaroa for Sydney Mr F. Lipscombe, A.R.C.A., at present an art master in Invercargill, has been appointed to a position at the Napier Technical College. A resolution congratulating Mr Mark Fagan on his appointment to the Legislative Council was passed at the meeting of the Wellington Labour Representation Committee last week. A smoke concert will be tendered to Mr R. J. Hobbs by rowing enthusiasts at the Union Rowing Club’s boathouse on Monda}*-, June 23. Mr Hobbs leaves at the end of the month for Canada as manager of the New Zealand representatives in the coming Empire Games. Mr Adrian Kinross White, the seven-teen-year-old son of Mr W. Kinross White, of Omaranui, Hawke’s Bay, who is a student of Wanganui College, has been notified that he has passed successfully, and with honours, the recent examination tests carried out at Longlands aerodrome, and that he has qualified for an “A” pilot’s certificate. Mr Adrian Kinross White is probably the youngest pilot in the Dominion.
