“THE GOLD DIGGERS OF BROADWAY” AT FULLER’S
An exceptionally strong cast is featured in the “ Gold Diggers of Broadway,” the all-talking picture now in its fifth week at the New Opera House. The production has many distinctive characteristics, the most outstanding of which is possibly the colouring. From beginning to end the picture is In natural colours and this adds greatly to the many spectacular scenes. The story is an interesting one and the dialogue is brisk and well delivered. Nancy Welford has the female lead. Most of the comedy work is done by Winnie Lightner, who plays the part of Mabel, a happy-go-lucky young woman, full of fun and with a wonderful store of amusing remarks. Several good comedy numbers are sung by this star. Nick Lucas, one of the best-known leading broadcast artists in America, sings many of the wings that are a feature of the picture. Magnificence of setting is the key-note of the big stage scenes. As usual, the supporting programme Is of a high standard.
