COMMITTED FOR TRIAL ON MURDER CHARGE.

MELBOURNE, May 14. .At the inquest at Geelong into the circumstances of the death of Horace Walpole, a taximan, who was found murdered in his cab on April 29, Eric Brockwell was committed for trial on a charge of murder. A detective gave evidence that Brockwell had admitted having killed Walpole, and had added that he was not in his right senses owing to worry. He had bought a rifle intending to kill himself.
Horace Walpole, aged thirty-six, a car driver, was found murdered in his car between Queenscliff and Geelong. He was a well-known figure on the taxi ‘stands at Geelong. He received an engagement on the previous night, since when he had been missing. He had been shot from behind, the bullet having entered his head. The body was covered with a rug. Robbery was not the motive, as a sum of money was found in his pockets.
