ACCURATE HANDLING AND GOOD KICKING.
(Special to the “ Star.”) WELLINGTON, May 15. Light practice was indulged in at Athletic Park by the English footballers yesterday-. There was some remarkably accurate handling, and if the backs prove as speedy when playing against hard opposition as they were yesterday, then New Zealand’s defence lines are going to have their work cut out in preventing scores. Naturally, it remains to be seen if the accuracy in handling and passing has the machine precision necessary to get past determined tackling. The kicking from yesterday’s performances is very powerful, and the “pot” seems to be the favourite type of kick with more than a few members of the team. Prentice, captain of the side, considers that its main strength will lie in the forwards.
