CONCRETE ROADS SAID TO BE MOST ECONOMICAL.
(Special to the “Star.”) DUNEDIN, May 14. Some interesting figures on the cost of new road formations were given to the Otago Motor Club by the engineer (Mr F. J. Williams). 'lie said the respective costs per mile were: — £ Tar seal 3.00*0 Hot mix 0.000 Concrete 9,000 Engineers did not know the life of a concrete road, he said, but it was estimated to be fifty y*ears. Hot mix lasted twenty years, and tar-sealed roads were estimated to last from seven and a half years to ten years. The concrete road was the most economical proposition.
