PERSONAL ITEMS.

Mrs H. Kirkcaldie, Wellington, is a guest at the United Service Hotel. Mrs Donald Macdonald, Edendale, is a guest at Warner’s Hotel. Mr and Mrs S. Solomon, Dunedin, are staying at the United Service Hotel. Mrs J. W. Richards, Hagley Street, has returned home after spending a holiday with her son in Dunedin. Mr and Mrs G. F. Atkins, of Grafton, Auckland, are visiting Christchurch and Oarnaru. Miss Connie Ledger, Knowles Street, is the guest of Mrs Hugh Leggatt, Nelson. Mrs E. J. Chennells, Fendalton, who has been the guest of Mrs Barak, Wellington, has returned to her home. Mr and Mrs M. F. Brown returned to Christchurch to-day from Auckland, where they had been attending the legal conference. The St Michael’s Church parishioners are holding an Old English village fair in the Caledonian Hall on May 6. 7 and S, in aid of parish needs and maintenance. The guests for the Easter holidays at Mrs Constable’s, “ Whangamareno.” Governor’s Bay, were:—Mr and Mrs G. W. Holland (Fendalton), Mr and Mrs and Miss Couzins (St Albans), Mr and Mrs Marsh, Mrs and Miss Laurenson. Mrs Duncan, Misses Gow, Farmer and Sharland (Christchurch). Mrs M. H. Godby, Mrs x\. C. M’Killop and Miss Maberley Beadel have left for Timaru, where they will be joined by Miss Edna White-Parsons, Mrs T. H. A. Richards and Miss Norah Hoare, who are returning from the ladies golf tournament in Dunedin. The visitors will play the Timaru ladies on Tuesday for the Boyle Cup. The following are the latest arrivals at the Hotel Federal:—Mr Basselt (Auckland), Mr C. Cole, Mr Johnston (Wellington), Mrs Burrough (Nelson), Mrs Lyfcrd (Blenheim), Mr C. M’Gillivrav, Miss M’Gillivray (Gore), Mr and Mrs Moller (Hanmer Springs), Mr Dick, Mr Wilkinson (Wellington), Mr Mickle (Aberdeen), Mr and Mrs Route (Nelson), Mr Sheat (Dunsandel), Mr Sharpe (Ward). Miss Bessie MacDonald was elected an honorary life member of the Scottish Society at the annual meeting on Thursday night. Moving in that direction the chairman (Chief J. S. Chisholm) said that Miss MacDonald had done a great deal of work for the society. She had recently staged three entertainments, as a result of which she had handed the society a substantial cheque towards the building fund. Other members spoke of Miss MacDonald’s association with the society, and the motion electing her was carried with acclamation.
