BRITISH AND FOREIGN BIBLE SOCIETY.

annual meeting of the Papanui branch of the B. and F. Bible Society took place on Thursday afternoon at the Misses Morrow’s home' in Murray Place. There was a large attendance of collectors and others interested. Mrs Twentyman presided. Both Mrs Twentyman and the Rev A. Stuart, organising secretary for Canterbury, addressed the collectors. Mr Stuart read an interesting letter from Miss Clara Waterston, of Solomon Islands, who had translated the New Testament into the native language. The Bible Society had now printed Bibles in 618 different languages. So far over £72 had been collected in Papanui this year and there was still a further sum to come in. Among those present were: Rev A. Stuart, Mesdames Hodgson, sen., Twentyman, Wright, Anderson, Thompson, Simpson, Flaus, Heywood, Rodie, Miller, Sneddon, Kettle, Kruse, Church, Smith, Shaw, Kilpatrick, Craighead, Farquhar, Dixon, Reid, Baxter, Watson, Wright, Hodgson, Buddo, Tod, Tonkies, Misses Bayliss, Evans, Heatley, Mulligan, Banks, Ruddock, Baty, Hodgson and M. Hodgson.
