MAGISTRATE’S COURT IS HELD AT WAIMATE.

A sitting of the Waimate Magistrate’s Court was held yesterday, Mr C. R. Orr Walker, S.M., presiding. Michael Doyle was charged with driving a car while not being the holder of a driver’s license. Police evidence showed that defendant had been concerned in an accident. A fine of ss, with 10s costs, was imposed. Two charges of breaches of the motor regulations were preferred against Michael Joseph Hanley—that, being the driver of a motor-car in Glasgow Street, he failed to give warning at the Queen Street intersection, and also failed to give way to traffic approaching from the right. The first charge was withdrawn with the consent of the police, and a plea of guiltv was entered on the charge of failing to way to traffic on the right. Adams* was charged with being unlawfully on licensed premises on March 16. He w r as further charged with committing a breach of his probationary license by consuming intoxicating liquor on March 15. A plea of guilty was entered on the first charge. The Magistrate ordered defendant to come up for sentence if called on within twelve months, on the condition that he took out a prohibition order against himself for tw ? elve months. A fine of £1 and costs on the first charge was imposed. That, being persons excluded from the Waimate Racing Club’s racecourse while the same was being used by the club, they did enter and remain on the course on March 20, was the charge preferred against Martin Joyce, Edward John Duggan and John Jamieson Fraser. On a judgment summons, Joseph Thomas was ordered to pay the assignees of the Waimate Motor Garage, Ltd., £1 Bs, balance of account due, in default forty-eight hours’ imprison* ment at Timaru Gaol.
