AMAZING CHARGES MADE BY SYDNEY POLICE AGENT.
Declares He Was Held Captive And Threatened With Death.
(United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received April 3, 9.35 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 3. Amazing allegations were made by a police agent, who declared that he had been kidnapped by a gang of men, battered over the head, bound and gagged and menaced with threats of being shot, that he was held captive, at times chained by the legs, for a fortnight, and that he was forced to write letters repudiating evidence which he had given on oath in the police court.
Detectives raided a house in the city, near police headquarters, and found the agent. Two men who were in the building were arrested. The man concerned is Vigilio Cace. He asserted that he had consented to go to a party with another man and, when in a lonely spot; the car stopped. Ca£e alighted and was immediately struck down. U£>on regaining his'senses he found himself chained to a bedpost and bound and gagged. During the next fourteen days Cace alleged that he was held captive. Sometimes he was released under guard of a man armed with a rifle.
He was fed on bread and water and four men forced him to write statements making allegations against the police. They threatened to shoot him upon refusal and prodded him with revolvers. Cace then contrived a plan to escape. He told the men that he had an appointment with a man who owed him money. Cace was allowed out under guard and threat of being shot if he attempted to escape. Fie noticed a man who he knew in the street, and informed him of his predicament. His friend forthwith rushed to the police station, and detectives were soon on I the spot. | Further arrests are expected. I®HI H 3 MSI®HIHIIH HI HI E*l HI HI HI ®HI SI ®IS
