Owner Will Give Up Trotting, Alleging Unjust Treatment
'(Special to the “ Star.”) AUCKLAND, April 3. Following upon the disqualification of Lord Haldane after winning the President's Handicap at Thames last Saturday, the owner, Mr A. R. Saunders, has decided to retire from trotting. Fie holds that he was unjustly treated in being deprived of the stake of £l5O and being fined £lO for inconsistent running. He states that he was keen to win the Parawai Handicap, the first race in which Lord Haldane ran, but that when the horse broke half a mile from home he lost 100 yards. Lord Haldane is offered for sale at £IOO.
