London's Stage Glitter Is Not Gold.

LONDON, February 26. Six Australian actresses who arrived here told a Press representative that they had been obliged to leave Australia in the hope of finding work in England, only to discover that the position here was not much better. At least one West End theatre has gone over to the talkies, as well as three of the best-known variety theatres. Others, like the London Pavilion, if not showing revue, put on talkies exclusively. The prospect of Australians finding work in film studios is hopeless. England is full of persons trying to get into the films. “ We heard that many Australians were successful on the London stage, but we came over to discover that there are also a number of Australians unsuccessful despite their talents,” said one.
