SPLIT IN AUCKLAND LIFE-SAVING SOCIETY
THREE OFFICIALS RESIGN AND LEAVE MEETING. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, April 3. At a meeting of the Auckland Life Saving Society the president, Dr Pettit, the secretary, Mr P. Stewart, and the assistant-secretary, Mr P. Gilchrist, resigned and other prominent officials are expected to follow suit as a result of a resolution being carried to promote an art union. D Pettit had previously made it perfectly clear that he would consider it as a motion of want of confidence. He said that if it was carried he would have no other course than to resign. After the officials named had left the meeting the delegates were asked to appoint a convener to call a meeting to replace them. No one was prepared to act. As matters stand the banking account cannot be operated upon and no diplomas can be issued.
