The Pioneer Lodge, No. 1, U.A.0.D., held its usual meeting on Monday evening, A.D. Brother Robinson presiding. D.P. Brother Beckett was present. After the usual business had been dealt with. The lodge held a social evening for the purpose of making a presentation to the Past Grand Presidents of the lodge. Grand President Brother M. O’Donoghue, Grand Secretary Brother J. Burgess, Grand Treasurer Brother J. Jowsev, P.G.P. Brother R. Parker, P. G. P. "Brother J. Fisher and representatives from the town and suburban lodges attended. G.P. Brother O.’Donoghue. in making a presentation of a P.G.P.s jewel to P.G.P. Brother H. E. Smith, P.G.P. Brother S. Kennedy, P.G.P. Brother W. J. Neate and P.G.P. Brother L. A Morrison, referred to the valuable work that these brothers had done for the order and wished them long life and happiness. A lengthy toast list and musical items went to make a pleasant evening. Items were given by Mr North. Mr Hale, Mr Pegley, Mr Lamb, Mr Ward, Mr Moran, Mr Stephens and Brother Marriott, Brother G. Russell playing the accompaniments.

Mr _T. W. Mawson. Director of Town Planning, left Christchurch in his own <ar this afternoon for Blenheim and Nelson. He will stay at Kaikoura this evening, when evidence on regional planning will be given by the Kaikoura County Council. Evidence will be taken at Blenheim on Friday next. Mr Mawson will return to Christchurch on April 11 to address a meeting of architects, surveyors, engineers and others, at which it is intended to establish a branch of the Town Planning Institute.
