DEMONSTRATION OF JERSEY CATTLE GIVEN. Jersey cattle are taking a prominent place amongst the milking herds in North Canterbury, and the interests of the breed are being well fostered by the North Canterbury Jersey Cattle Club. Yesterday, under the auspices of the Club, Mr E. M’Lennan, of Palmerston North, representing the New Zealand Jersey Cattle Breeders’ Association, gave a demonstration of the points of the breed at the Rangiora market. The cattle used for the purpose were from the herds of Messrs F. Martyn and J. J. Hughey, and during the demonstration Mr M’Lennan was surrounded by a large number of farmers who manifested keen interest in the information given, and accorded him a hearty vote of thanks. A. AND P. COMPETITIONS. The closing date of entries for the Northern Agricultural and Pastoral Association field roots and flock competitions has been extended to Tuesday, April 15. ODDFELLOWS’ LODGE. The Loyal Rangiora Lodge of Manchester Unity Oddfellows met on Monday evening, the N.G., Bro 11. A. Johnstone, presiding. An expression of sympathy was accorded the relatives of the late Bros. A. N. Burt and A. Derbidge. One candidate was nominated for membership. Four claims for payment of the maternity allowance were approved. CROQUET. A progressive tournament pla\'ed on the Rangiora lawns on Friday by B grade players for prizes given by the president, Mr R. *H. Bailey, were won by Mrs Stanton and Mrs Logan.
