STAFF DANCE.

WOOLWORTH'S (N.Z.) LTD. The ballroom at the Winter Garden was gay with coloured balloons and streamers on Monday night for the staff dance of Wool worth’s (N.Z.) Ltd. Beautiful frocks in pastel shades or rich blues, greens and- orange, together with the brightly coloured decorations and novelties, gave an Oriental splendour to the room. Mrs Vaughan, wife of the manager, was presented with a bouquet of beautiful flowers by Miss Lois Button, on behalf of the staff. An exhibition dance was given by Mr and Mrs Leo Bowden, and Miss Iris Evans’s pupils presented a Dutch Duo. The dance committee, who worked hard to ensure the success of their first dance of the season, comprised Misses C. Murray, Edna Cox, Dempster, Williams and Badger, Messrs C„ W. Perry, J. Jacobs, G. Colman, and C. A. M’Connell (hon. sec.) The Bailey-Marston orchestra provided an excellent dance programme. Supper was served in the supper room, where the tables were prettily decorated with pink and white lilies. Guests of the committee were;—Mr and Mrs Vaughan, Mr and Mrs J. G. Parry, and Miss Kathleen Munday.

A pleasant surprise evening was spent at the home of Mr and Mrs James Rayner, jun., Conway Street, on Tuesday to celebrate the anniversary of their wedding. Music and dancing added to the enjoyment.
