THEY ARE NOT PROUD OF WORLD’S RECORD CABLE.

(Special to the “Star.”) SYDNEY, February 26. Sydney’s Water and Sewerage Board is not bursting with pride over its world’s record cable, reported to have been received yesterday, with its 10,800 words of code, at a cost of £383. In fact, it was to have been kept a dark secret, and high officials are irate. “You’ll get no details at all from me,” said Mr T. B. Cooper, president of the Board, and he was as good as his word, except that he did add that the published statement was absolutely unauthorised. Mr T. J. Roseby, secretary of the Board,"also refused to supply any information. “ It was an entirely confidential and secret communication,” he said. “No details regarding it should ever have been made public.” He added that inquiries were being made as to how the information leaked out.
