Tattersall’s For Rest Rooms .

A Woman s View .

It is a pity that when the council does take up the matter of a Women’s Rest Rooms it should chance on something so impracticable as Councillor Cooke’s suggestion regarding the Tattersall’s building. If it ever gets past the committee stage it will be held up for long enough over financial difficulties and may be discarded in the end. The site is a good one and Councillor Cooke’s visions of a combined market and rest rooms may even raise no objections. We must hope for the best for the council has surely learned from experience now; but. there are still women who would find the proposed elevation an inconvenience. The Rest Rooms would be four stories up. They would have the advantage of light and air. But many women are still prejudiced against lifts. Elderly women* in particular, get into them with much trepidation. B.E.S.
