“DISRAELI" IS A FINE HISTORICAL PICTURE.

i On its premiere performance here, ; “Disraeli” was acclaimed as one of the best talkies that had been brought to the city. That was the popular verdict, and throughout its live weeks of showing at' the New Opera House crowded houses gave it enthusiastic support. Last night it entered its sixth week here, and its reception was as hearty as ever. The title role of Disraeli, the great Jewish Prime Minister of England, is taken by George Arliss, who does wonderful work. The story is easy to follow, being an episode in Britain's history which enabled her to hold the A r an in the race for colonial possessions, and probably saved India from the clutches of ambitious Russia. As a character study of Disraeli in his different moods, the film is a great success. The “1812” Overture is played in finished style by the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra, and. Vitaphone varieties fill the remainder of the first half of the programme. Professor Moore and his orchestra contribute popular numbers. Larry Ceballo’s Crystal Wave Revue provide novelties in the way of specialty dances, ballets and bright musical numbers.
