COLLIE DOG CLUB. A meeting of the Kaikoura Collie Dog Club was held in the Band Room on Saturday. Mr J. C. Borthwick (president) occupied the chair. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs S. Turner, H. A. Baker, F. Emms, W. Henderson and Allan Adair. A letter was received from Mi tl. Fairweather enclosing a donation of £2 2s. A vote of thanks was passed to the donor. The rules were reviewed. Fifth place prizes were added to classes 2 and 3 and fourth place prize to class 4. It was decided to hold the trials on Monday and Tuesday, June 2 and 3. and to hold a dance on the evening of 1 uns 3. Messrs R. Hamilton, C. Keehan, B. Biirland, F. Lawson, G. Poole and H. Crampton were appointed a dance committee. The matter of sheep and trial grounds were left to the secretary to arrange. Mr W. Anderson was appointed judge, and Mr G. E. Parsons timekeeper. It was decided to call for tenders for the publican’s booth privilege. It was also decided to ask the ladies to again conduct the luncheon booth. The committee were asked to make the usual canvass for entries and special prizes. The next meeting of the club was fixed for Saturday, April 26.

GARDEN OF MEMORIES WALL. The contract for the extension of the concrete sea wall embracing the Garden of Memories has been completed. Approximately two chains and a half of wall have been erected and when the filling and levelling is done, the wall will greatly enhance the appearance of the Gardens. ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION. A sports meeting under the auspices of the Kaikoura Athletic Association will be held on Easter Monday at Domain. Cycling, running and bushmen’s events are included in the programme. The cycling track is now in excellent order. Given fine weather the meeting promises to be most successful. Nominations for all events close on Saturday. CRICKET MATCH. A club cricket match between teams chosen by Messrs E. Warner and N. Farrant, played on the Domain on Saturday afternoon, resulted in a win for Warner's team by 14 runs on the first innings. Warner's team, batting first, made 151 runs, the best batting figures being P. M’Farlane 52, Warner 21, Renner 28. O’Callaghan, jun. 19, and Gordon 11. The wickets were secured by Wis- 1 hart and Borthwick. Farrant’s team made 137 runs (Farrant 16, Withers 19. Hobbs 22, and Borthwick 14). The bowling honours fell to M’Farlane and Warner. MEMORIAL SERVICE. A memorial service to the late Mrs Walter was held in the St Paul’s Presbyterian Church on Sunday evening. The Rev F. Robertson delivered the address, and appropriate hymns were sung. VISITORS TO KAIKOURA.
