CANTERBURY COLLEGE BOARD HOLDS MEETING.

The Board of Governors of Canterbury College met yesterday; present— The Hon G. J. Smith, M.L.C. (chairman), Miss E. A. Chaplin, Dr J. Ilight, Dr 11. G. Denham, Dr J. Guthrie, Messrs J. J. Dougall, E. J. Howard, M.P., H. D. Acland, W. A. Banks, A. E. Flower, J. G. Poison, J. 11. E. Schroder and B. Wood.

The Museum and Library Committee reported that it had approved the temporary appointment of Miss Myra Bradley and Miss Marjorie Ruddle as assistant instructors in embroidery at the School of Art.

The College Committee recommended that the following should be appointed student assistants in the School of Em gineering for the 1930 session: Mechanical engineering, G. T. Wilson; electrical engineering, G. J. Burrell; civil engineering, H. W. Lee; surveying, R. L. James and R. G. Breckell; timber testing, 11. G. Morris, C. M. Gray, G. 11. Dunkley and G. E. Page. The committee reported that it had approved of a recommendation from the Professorial Board that for some time the annual income from the bequest of £IOO from the estate of the late Miss M. V. Gibson to the Canterbury College Library, together with the income from the Government subsidy, should be devoted to the development of the New Zealand section of the library. It had approved of the temporary engagement of a draughtsman for the civil engineering department for about six months. It had received satisfactory reports from Messrs J. R. Smith and W. G. Rutherfurd, holders of the General Elec-trie Company's exhibitions.
