FENCING CLUB TO BE FORMED IN CITY
PUBLIC MEETING TO BE CONVENED SHORTLY.
With the object of forming a fencing club in Christchurch, a public meeting wil lbe convened in the near future. The sport has become very popular in England and on the Continent, where it is considered to be one of the finest forms of exercise. In Christchurch during the past few fencing has gained popularity at Canterbury College, and a number .of students have learnt the art. The club to be formed here will have a room for practice and instruction will be given to beginners, while bouts will be ar ranged for those who can already use the foils. A meeting of fencing enthusiasts was held last evening, when a draft constitution was drawn up and preliminary matters discussed.
