The Billens Medal.
To th# Editor. " Dear Sir, —As one of the many lovers of art who attended the opening of the exhibition at the Art Gallery, I would like to know why the Billens Gold Medal was awarded for a picture that was a very long way behind many others in merit. The medal is, I understand, awarded for the most original picture, but this is rather in the nature of a stunt than a work of art and is far from being the best of this artist’s work.—l am, etc., MYSTIFIED.
