When Leon Arthur Sowerby, aged twenty-five, married, was motorcycling at Blandford Park Speedway. Taylor, the ex-cham-pion, who controls a large club-making business at Richmond, stated that about three weeks ago he wired to the secretary of the Rules of Golf Com mittee asking if there was any truth in the report that a certai make of American steel-shaft would not be legal in this country. The reply stated that samples of the shaft had only just reached St Andrews, and had not been examined. A few days ago Taylor received a letter from the secretary of the Rules of Golf Committee stating that the shaft in question was approved by the committee. r
