HINTS TO BATHERS.

(Written for the “Star” by “BELTMAN.”) Incoming Tides.— To-day: 8.32 a.m. till 2.44 p.m.; 9 p.m. till 3.15 a.m. To-morrow: 9.27 a.m. till 3.38 p.m.,* 9.51 p.m. till 4.5 a.m. Though the advice to swimmers generally is not to endeavour to get out to the buoys at the beaches, there are a number of swimmers who are quite capable of this and can hardly be censured for doing so in a reasonably good sea. The advice to these is not to stay out too long because the journey in through the breakers requires a good deal of reserve energy and should be commenced before the feeling of tiredness is noticed.
