WHALERS SEARCH FOR EXPLORER.

WILKINS ANTICIPATED TROUBLE IN ANTARCTIC.

(United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) NEW YORK, February 9. A wireless message from Deception Island states that all the whaling ships in the region have dropped their other pursuits and are endeavouring to locate Sir Hubert Wilkins. No white man since 1874 has visited the area which Sir Hubert intended to explore.

The explorer himself, in his last despatch, anticipated possible trouble. He stated: “Rescue, in case of accident, will be difficult, but it is worth the effort. We are unlikely to be able to send radio news for some days. Our trip is likely to last three weeks.”
