CITRUS FRUITGROWERS DEAL WITH N.Z. TRADE.

(United Press Assn.—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received February 11, 8.50 a.m.) MELBOURNE, February 11. The Inter-State Citrus Conference has just concluded at Mildura. The question of marketing of fruit in New Zealand was discussed. It was stated that the North Island was the natural market for New South Wales growers, whilst South Australian fruit went to the South Island. It was decided to regulate supplies in order to avoid unnecessary competition. The Federal Citrus Council yas authorised to control the export of fruit to New Zealand.

NO REASON FOR PANIC ABOUT CANADIAN WHEAT

Dunning, to-day stated: “I see no reason for getting panicky about the wheat situation. < There is no more in storage now than at this time last year.”

DAIRY PRODUCTION.

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, February 11. The Dairy Division of the Agricultural Department’s grading figures for six months ended January, 1930, show an increase for butter of 11.62 per cent on 62,324 tons and for cheese a decrease of 4.02 per cent on 50,592 tons, as compared with the corresponding period last season. Reduced to terms of butterfat equfvalent, the gradings of dairy produce for the six months show an -increase of 5.96 per cent over the corresponding period for the preceding season.

ASHBURTON SALE.

(Special to the “ Star.”) ASHBURTON, February 11. There was a small attendance at Ashburton yards to-day on account of farmers being busy with the harvest. The entry of fat stock, comprising 1100 ewes, 100 wethers, and 150 lambs, was the largest for twelve months. Prices opened on a par with last week’s sale, but showed a decline as the sale advanced. Cochrane Bros., Elgin, secured top price, 23s lOd, for ewes, and W. T, Stevens (Eiffelton) sold ten prime wethers which realised 32s 6d. Sales were: Fat ewes—Five at 23s lOd, 8 at 22s lOd, 9 at 22s lOd, 7 at 22s 3d, 22 at 23s 4d, 10 at 19s 7d, 13 at 22s 7d, 8 at 21s Id. Fat wethers—Seven at 32s 6d7 12 at 26s 10d, 12 at 26s 3d, 18 at 255, 5 a* 24s 4d, 10 at 23s lOd.
