It is expected that the Middleton railway yards, which have been closed for extensive alterations, will be reopened next week. Some bullets, evidently fired during the Maori War, were recently found in the cliffs on the northern side of the Oakura River, near the beach, a few miles from New Plymouth. Some were flattened, and others were as round as when they were fired nearly sixty years ago. The announcement has been gazetted that an additional 1 acre 3 roods 24.9 perches has been taken by the Government for the purpose of a public school at Milne Street, Addington. A senior primary school is to be erected on what is known as the Milne Street site, which is situated between Milne and Selwyn Streets, and it is hoped that a beginning will be made this year. Approximately four acres have been taken already, and the area gazetted Is an extension.
