ARTILLERY UNIT GOES TO CAMP AT MATARAE.
The first of the Christchurch artillery units, the 9th Field Battery, leaves for its annual camp, which will be held at Matarae, to-morrow morning. Four officers, Lieutenant L. R. Webley, Lieutenant L. J. Walters, Lieutenant B. B. Levy and Lieutenant F. A. Aldridge, and 153 men will travel on the early express to Dunedin, a special train having been arranged from there to the camp site in Central Otago. The horses from the permanent artillery t*arracks will be sent south by the speial goods train to-night. The guns that will be used for training, and the live shell practice are those belonging to the battery at Invercargill, the 12th. The men will be in camp for the usual six days, and are expected to arrive back in Christchurch on the evening of February 11. Letters to members of the battery or of the succeeding batteries should be addressed to the Artillery Camp, Matarae.
