CARGO OF FRUIT IS IN GOOD CONDITION.

The Government Island steamer, ATaui Pomare, which arrived at Lyttelton this morning from Samoa and Niue Islands, via Wellington, brought 4500 cases of bananas from Samoa, and 1050 from Niue for discharge at Lyttelton. The fruit discharged this morning appeared to be in excellent condition, and much better than anticipated from reports received from the north. It is reported that out of 2000 cases landed at Wellington yesterday, only 250 were sold. It is anticipated that the fruit being landed to-day at Lyttelton will realise a good price owing to its good condition.
