SLIP BLOCKS OTIRA GORGE.

WEATHER NOW FINE ON WEST COAST. (Special to the "Star.”) GREYMO-UTH, January 6. The road through the Otira Gorge was blocked last night by a slip. It is estimated that; two days will be required to Clear the obstruction. After Saturday’s showers the night was very wet at Greymouth. The rainfall for the 24 hours ended at nine o'clock yesterday morning totalled 135 points. They completed the journey to Greymouth by train and another car being sent out to recover the luggage. Three Ashburton tourists met trouble between Punakaikai and Greymouth yesterday when the car skidded on a loose shingle surface and. ran into a swamp. Other motorists assisted to restore it to the road. One lady was thrown out when the car door opened, but escaped with nothing more serious than shock.
