MR HOWARD AND SAMOA.
To the Editor. Dear Sir, —All very well for Mr M’Combs to recommend his colleague as Administrator or settler of troubles in Samoa, but is this a practicable suggestion ? I do not question Mr Howard's knowledge of Samoa, but would his judgment be sound, seeing that he has taken such a partisan stand on the subject, and the faults can’t be all on one side? And that reminds me that Mr N. M Bell was a bit one-eyed in referring to the eight dead Samoans “violently done to death.” He quietly ignores the British policeman who was first violently done to death by a mob of Samoans while he was in the execution of his duty. Can’t we have more facts and a little less hot air?—l am. etc., FAIR PLAY.
