OPEN OFFICES BUT LITTLE BUSINESS.
Nearly all classes of business have resumed after the holidays, the lawyers and accountants being among the few exceptions. The city, however, has by no means got back into its ordinary stride. A well-known business man stated this morning that for some days yet there would be very little trading done. People had not yet got over the holiday feeling, and in fact, large numbers were still holiday making. The fact that the lawyers’ offices were clos ed had the effect of restricting business in many lines. Advantage is being taken of the slack period in rmypy offices to give atten tion to minor details that cannot be dealt with when the ordinary press of normal business is being handled. Preparations are being made for the com mencement of real business, and office stationery, and other equipment are getting an overhaul in readiness for it.
