THRILLING MYSTERY AT CRYSTAL PALACE.
A master villain of fiction, born in the brain of a recognised master creator of diabolical plots an ddeep-dyed villainy, has, after sixteen years, been brought from between the covers of books and at last lives on the screen to leer and laugh at the law. He is Fu Manchu, Dr Fu Manchu, “The Mysterious Dr Fu Manchu,” to give him his full, well-earned title, and in the all-talking picture of that name he appears at Crystal Palace Talkies this week. “The Mysterious Dr Fu Manchu" pleases at once the intelligence and that within us that seeks melodramatic pleasure. There is nothing quite so exciting as to watch a real smiling villain pursuing a pair of lovers with his maniacal vengeance. Among the supporting films are a comedy, “Hold Up,’’ a clever and biting satire on American “thugs,” being the story of a registered academy for training promising young men In the Chicago business. An alltalking comedy, “Baby Talks,” is very amusing, and a cartoon, “Race Riots, ” completes this varied programme. The box plans are at The Bristol Piano Company, where seats may be reserved.
