Mr and Mrs Beaumont were passengers from the north on Saturday. The Hon Mrs Vane, England, is a guest at the United Service Hotel. Mr and Mrs C. A. Black (Wellington) and Miss B. Barr (London) are guests at Warner’s Hotel. Guests at the United Service Hotel include Mr and Mrs W. 11. Adams, of Dunedin. Mrs Atkinson, Mrs and Miss Iredale, motored back to Christchurch after spending the holidays in Timaru. Mr and Mrs E. Reeve and Miss G. Reeve (Sydney) are staying at the United Service Hotel. Miss Oluren Jones is spending the holidays with her cousin. Miss Nancy Rice, Shirley, North Richmond. Miss R. Kelly, Wellington, is the guest of Mrs H. J. Otley, St Andrew’s Square, Strowan. Mr and Mrs T. Croft. Omihi, who were camping at Cass, have returned home. Dr and Mrs W. H. Simpson and family, Heaton Street, who were spend ing a camping holiday at Cass, returned to Christchurch yesterday. Recent arrivals at the Clarendon Hotel include Miss E. Ferrier (Sydney) and the Misses R. P. and M. Moran (Wellington). Mrs Neil (Christchurch) accompanied by her daughter, Miss Dorothy Neil, has returned from a visit to Mrs Chambers, West Melton. Mrs Pike, Otira, with her two daughters, Gwen and Doreen, who have been on a visit to friends in Southbridge, returned to the West Coast on Saturday. Mr and Mrs Arthur Reeves (Christchurch), who have been staying at Miss M’Laren’s Flat at Hampton House, Timaru, returned to the north on Saturday. Tocker, Fendalton, has returned from a visit to Wellington. Miss Helen Abraham (Stratford) is the guest of Miss Denniston (Merivale Lane). Mr and Mrs B. Petre and their family (Dunedin) are spending a holiday with Mrs Frank Petre (Rugby Street). Mrs Harold Barker (Christchurch), who has been staying with Mrs J. M. Barker (Woodbury) will return home to-day. Mr and Mrs Sherris and Miss Marjorie Sherris (Christchurch) are staying at the Grand Hotel, Timaru. Mr and Mrs Ivan Wood (Christchurch) are staying at the Grand Hotel, Timaru. Mr and Mrs Warren Fisher (Christchurch) are staying at the Grand Hotel, Timaru. Mrs Norman Densem, Heathcote, is spending the week-end at “ Te Aro,” Sedgemere. Mrs D. McMeekan, of the Papanui School staff, is spending a week with relatives at Southbridge. Miss Joan Kilbride, Mata Mata, Auckland, is the guest of her aunt, Mrs J. Kilbride, Southbridge. Miss Jean Goulden (Southbridge) left for the West Coast on Saturday for the holiday vacation. Miss Norah Cameron-Smith, Christchurch, is spending a holiday with Mrs T. Kimber, Southbridge. Mrs P. Stewart and her daughter, Doris, are leaving for the north to-night to visit friends and relations. Miss Cicely O’Rourke (Christchurch), who was the guest of Mrs J. M. Barker (Woodbury), has returned to Christchurch. Professor and Mrs H. G. Denham (Fendalton), who are visiting Geraldine, will return to Christchurch this week. Mr and Mrs C. Barker (Christchurch), who have been spending some days at “Cadogan,” Sefton Street, Timaru, will return north to-day. Miss Jean (Christchurch) who has been the guest of Mrs J. Mowbray Tripp (“Silverton,” Woodbury), will return home to-day. Mrs George Webster (Christchurch), who has been the guest of Mrs George Murray (“Braemar”), has returned from the Mackenzie Country. The engagement is announced of Edward Harold, youngest son of Mr and Mrs A. Bloxham, of Hills Road, Heathcote Valley, Christchurch, to Mary Ellen, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Lemon, “ Alton,” Tuatapere, Southland. Mrs B. W. Remnant, of Palmerston North, who has been spending her Christmas holidays with her sisters, Mrs P. Stewart, and Mrs E. Young, of 63 Garlands Road, Opawa, leaves for the south to-day.
