Stewart and her daughter, Doris, are leaving for the north to-night to visit friends and relations. Miss Cicely O’Rourke (Christchurch), who was the guest of Mrs J. M. Barker (Woodbury), has returned to Christchurch. Professor and Mrs H. G. Denham (Fendalton), who are visiting Geraldine, will return to Christchurch this week. Mr and Mrs C. Barker (Christchurch), who have been spending some days at “Cadogan,” Sefton Street, Timaru, will return north to-day. Miss Jean (Christchurch) who has been the guest of Mrs J. Mowbray Tripp (“Silverton,” Woodbury), will return home to-day. Mrs George Webster (Christchurch), who has been the guest of Mrs George Murray (“Braemar”), has returned from the Mackenzie Country. The engagement is announced of Edward Harold, youngest son of Mr and Mrs A. Bloxham, of Hills Road, Heathcote Valley, Christchurch, to Mary Ellen, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Lemon, “ Alton,” Tuatapere, Southland. Mrs B. W. Remnant, of Palmerston North, who has been spending her Christmas holidays with her sisters, Mrs P. Stewart, and Mrs E. Young, of 63 Garlands Road, Opawa, leaves for the south to-day.
