INQUEST HELD ON STUDENT’S DEATH.
The inquest concerning the death of Richard Daniel Duder, an immagront from England, who died in the Christchurch Hospital on November 29,1929, was concluded to-day before Mr E. C. Levvev, Coroner. Duder was found in Riccarton Road suffering from the effects of arsenic poisoning. _ W hen the inquest w T as opened some time ago, Felix J. T. Grigg, Government Analist, said that he had made an analysis of the organs, and found a considerable quantity of poison The poison found on Duder’s person, and its manner of preparation, indicated what he had a knowledge of chemistry. The medical evidence showed tl at death was due to poisoning. Isabella Mary Stanley, of Riccarton Road, giving evidence to-dav, said that on November 29 she found Duder in Riccarton Road, seriously ill. She called the ambulance and a doctor, and got a neighbour’s help. He was not vomiting. She heard him say something about his mother. He was taken to the hospital. Thomas Barson, of 169, Riccarton Road, said that at 3.30 p.m on November 29 he was visited by Duder. who said he felt queer and wanted to ring the ambulance. Witness directed him next door to a telephone. Duder said that he was at Lincoln College. Witness left him at Mrs Stanley’s pla^e. Mrs Dolly Barson said that a girt came and said that there was someone ill at the house next door. She went and saw Duder. who made no response to questions. He did not want to i:ay lie was groaning with pain, and vomiting. The ambulance came and took him away. (Proceeding.)
