TEN KILLED WHEN ’PLANES COLLIDE.

STUNT FOR MOVIES HAS FATAL ENDING. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) NEW YORK, January 2. A collision occurred between two commercial cabin aeroplanes, believed to be carrying five persons each, when three miles off shore. They plunged into the sea, and it is considered probable that all the occupants were killed, said a message from Santa Monica. The aeroplanes were flying in a stunt performance for the Fox Films Corporation. One passenger was Mr Kenneth Hawks, director, husband of the cinema actress, Miss Mary Astor, and brother-in-law of Miss Bessie Love. * The pilot of a third ’plane, from which an aviator was about to leap in a stunt parachute jump, said: “I saw the ’planes meet head on, burst into flames and drop into the sea, after which fishing-boats rushed to the scene in an endeavour teffect a rescue.”
