QUAINT FIGURES FROM WONDERLAND.
One of the most delightful spots in Liverpool, England, is the Children’s Corner of Stanley Park, where statues from “ Alice in Wonderland ” are scattered about in a most surprising way. First, one comes upon the Mad Hatter who, you will remember, used to walk about with his hat labelled, “ In this style, 10s 6d,” and who never seemed to finish his tea. Not far from him are the Cook who used far too much pepper in all her dishes, and the Duchess whose baby turned into a pig. Alice herself stands just in front of the Duchess, and from her we pass on to the Knave of Hearts, and the other beloved Wonderland characters. These figures were presented to the park by someone who slipped away without leaving a name, and cannot be traced anywhere. They are modelled from the famous illustrations by Sir John Tenniel, and have only recently been put in their places in the park.
